To achieve the best results and ensure the longevity of your Multiwood products, please follow the handling, processing, installation and maintenance guidelines provided below.

01 / IMPORTANT NOTICE – BEFORE PROCESSING

Inspect every sheet before work begins

Before cutting, machining, laminating or installing any Multiwood product, carefully inspect the sheets and panels.
INSPECTION CHECKLIST

Before cutting, machining, laminating or installing any Multiwood product, carefully inspect the sheets and panels.

  • Verify the product name, thickness, dimensions and quantity against the purchase invoice.
  • Open and inspect the sheets on both sides before starting any work.
  • Check for visible scratches, surface damage, colour variations, bends or other defects.
  • For coloured and laminated boards, check colour consistency and surface finish.
  • Report any visible manufacturing or transportation defects to the supplier before processing.
  • Do not proceed with cutting, machining or installation if any visible defect is identified.
IMPORTANT
Once the sheets have been cut, processed, modified or installed, claims relating to visible pre-existing defects may not be accepted.
02 / STORAGE & HANDLING

Store sheets flat and supported

Proper storage and handling help maintain the original shape, dimensional stability and surface quality of Multiwood sheets.

  • Always store sheets horizontally on a flat, level and even surface.
  • Ensure the supporting base is sufficiently stable and provides adequate support.
  • Keep sheets properly aligned to prevent bending or deformation.
  • Avoid storing sheets vertically for extended periods.
  • Do not drag sheets across rough surfaces, as this may cause scratches.
  • Keep products in a clean, dry and well-ventilated storage area.
  • Protect sheets from excessive heat, direct sunlight during storage and chemical exposure.
  • Handle sheets carefully during loading, unloading and transportation.
03 / CUTTING & EDGE FINISHING

Cut and finish with suitable equipment

Thomson Multiwood sheets can be processed using suitable woodworking and panel-cutting equipment.

Recommended Practices:

  • Use appropriate hand cutters, circular saws, panel saws or other suitable cutting equipment.
  • Ensure cutting tools and blades are sharp and suitable for the material.
  • Support the sheet properly on a flat, stable working surface during cutting.
  • Avoid excessive vibration or unsupported overhanging sections.
  • Cut according to the required project dimensions.
  • Smooth rough edges using suitable sanding equipment.
  • Ensure all cut edges are properly finished before assembly or installation.

Note: Always follow the equipment manufacturer’s safety and operating instructions.

04 / SURFACE PREPARATION

Prepare the surface before finishing

Proper surface preparation is important when painting, polishing or applying decorative finishes.

  • Clean the surface and remove dust, dirt and processing residues.
  • Smooth minor scratches and rough areas using suitable sandpaper.
  • Use appropriate putty to fill screw holes, joints and minor gaps.
  • NC putty, polish putty or other compatible fillers may be used where required.
  • Allow the filler to dry properly before sanding.
  • Sand the repaired areas to achieve a smooth and even surface.
  • Ensure the surface is clean and dry before applying the final finish.
05 / LAMINATION & ADHESIVE APPLICATION

Apply laminates with balanced bonding

Multiwood and WoodPlus WPC boards can be finished with suitable laminates and decorative surfaces.

Recommended Practices:

  • Lamination is optional and should be selected according to the project requirements.
  • Where applicable, laminate both sides of the sheet using laminates of equal or similar thickness to minimise the possibility of warping or bending.
  • Avoid applying laminate to only one side where balanced finishing is required.
  • Use high-quality adhesives recommended for the selected board and laminate.
  • Follow the adhesive manufacturer’s application and curing instructions.
  • Ensure proper bonding without air gaps, bubbles or uneven pressure.
FOR MAGNUM PET LAMINATED BOARDS
Magnum boards come with a ready-to-use PET laminated finish on both sides. Additional painting, polishing or lamination is generally not required. Use suitable edge bands and finishing methods to achieve a clean final appearance.
06 / SCREWING & ASSEMBLY

Use compatible fasteners and hardware

Proper fastening techniques help ensure strong joints and reliable furniture construction.

  • Use suitable screws and fasteners compatible with the selected Multiwood product.
  • Use appropriate pilot holes wherever required.
  • Avoid excessive tightening, which may damage the board or fastening area.
  • Maintain suitable distances between screws and board edges.
  • Use suitable adhesives for additional joint strength where required.
  • Ensure all assembled components are properly aligned and supported.
  • Use appropriate hardware and installation accessories for the intended application.
FOR WOODPLUS WPC BOARDS
Their composite construction provides good screw and nail holding strength, making them suitable for furniture and cabinet applications.
07 / PAINTING & SURFACE FINISHING

Follow the recommended finishing process

Multiwood products can be used with their natural finish or customised according to interior design requirements.

For Painting Applications:

  • Use compatible PU-based primers and suitable automotive-grade paints.
  • Apply an appropriate primer before painting.
  • Follow the paint and primer manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Ensure the surface is clean, dry and properly prepared.
  • Paint can be applied using a suitable brush, roller or spray gun.
  • Apply coatings evenly to achieve a consistent finish.
  • Allow sufficient drying time between coats.
  • Allow the painted components to dry in a clean, dust-free environment.
  • Avoid drying freshly painted components under direct sunlight.
